BH Lim speaks on behalf of ASE Malaysia at SEMICON about gender diversity

Ms. Lim Bee Hong, Director of ASEM’s Test Business Unit took part in a panel discussion during the recent SEMICON SEA 2023 show in PENANG.

The title of the discussion was – The Merits of Gender Diversity in the Semiconductor Industry, with a total of five panelists from ASEM, KLA, Western Digital, Micron and Global Foundries.

Affectionately known as BH, she has been with ASE Malaysia for 23 years. Well respected for her decisive and no-nonsense management style, she is also a strong advocate of DEIB (Diversity, Equality, Inclusion, Belonging) programs, actively promoting awareness of gender equality within the organization.

“Diverse teams are better at problem-solving because they are able to draw on a wider range of experiences and knowledge, leading to better decision-making and solutions”, BH spoke during a question on the benefits of gender diversity. She adds “Studies have shown that diverse teams are more innovative than homogenous ones.”

There was a huge round of applause from the crowded audience when BH declared “ASE Malaysia doesn’t just talk the talk, but we walk the talk. ASEM’s Senior Management Team comprises of 5 women of the total 15.”

Gender diversity is one of the Sustainable Development Goals that is being spearheaded by the UN and adopted by a majority of countries and businesses around the world.
